COUNSELLING

Counselling

Meadows of Hope (MoH) provides both online and in-person counselling sessions with trained, qualified and experienced therapists. We endeavour to use methods and approaches suited to your particular needs. We offer counselling of the following kinds.

Online: Online video conferencing tools like Zoom or a similar tool will be used for online counselling. This means that you can use any device you are comfortable with for your counselling session. You will also need a quiet and private place, if possible.

In-person: Counselling with the client and therapist in the same room is the more common and often preferred way of counselling. For this you will have to visit one of the MoH locations in person.

Counselling can also be either individual or in a group.  Individual counselling: Here the client meets the therapist one-on-one. This is the traditional and often the more common practice in counselling. It allows individual focus on the client's concerns.

Concerns may include (but are not limited to):

  • Stress (school, college or work-related)

  • Depression

  • Relationship issues

  • Anxiety and related disorders

  • Behavioural problems

  • Crisis management

  • Teenage concerns

  • Addiction

Remember

  • Everything discussed between the client and the therapist remains strictly confidential. Further details regarding confidentiality are given to you before you begin counselling sessions.

  • The types of therapy offered by MoH are detailed in the individual profiles of the therapists on this website.

  • The counsellor/therapist helps you to outline what you expect from the counselling sessions. Then over the course of multiple sessions, the therapist aims to help you meet those goals.

  • Counselling is not advice-giving. The counsellor may provide guidance where necessary, but the counsellee is very much an active participant in taking decisions for change in his/her own life.

  • One session is normally 45 to 50 minutes. Sessions are normally scheduled once a week or as the need maybe.

  • The number of sessions a client will need is a decision made jointly by the client and the therapist.

  • Cancellation of a previously scheduled counselling session needs to be done 24 hours in advance.

  • Cancellations done within 24 hours of a session will be charged as normal sessions are.
